Shipping conditions make it difficult for the virus to survive, according to health experts who go on to say that viruses are likely to only live a few hours to a few days under the sort of conditions we expose packages to, including shifts in temperature and humidity. Scientists writing this week in the New England Journal of Medicine said the longest the virus can survive on cardboard is one day-- but even then, it starts to become less viable-- or infectious-- when it comes into contact with the surface. Although the risk is small, we totally understand concerns-- and so we asked the experts. They told us for anyone concerned about the risk, just wipe down packages with disinfectant wipes and wash your hands.
