You can reach out to the Color Crew for a consultation, and we may either suggest a shorter processing time or a lighter shade.
Color doesn't have the ability to lift already color-treated hair. Using a lighter shade without fading the previous color first could result in uneven results.
One very easy, gentle, and affordable way to do this is to use an over-the-counter clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoos are designed to help remove product or environmental build-up from the scalp and hair and as a result, takes out color molecules pretty quickly as well - helpful when trying to lighten up the color!
We also recommend using Prime for Perfection. This is the essential pre-color prep step for perfect hair color. It works as a primer for your hair color, removing excess buildup that causes color to look dull or too dark by reducing and removing previously used permanent color. The color build-up washes away to reveal the underlying color, providing an optimal base for the next permanent color application. You can learn more about our Prime for Perfection here.
